Whatever else I am, I am a seeker after truth. Wherever that leads me, there I will go. Like a loving spouse, I want to be ever faithful to truth. I detest lies and half-truths, and the devil, who Jesus calls “a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). There are numerous lies and deceptions out there today, many of which serve only to divide and turn us against each other.
We must turn to God for truth and unity. God is Ultimate Truth, and God’s truths are imperishable. When God draws near, radiant Light shines in the darkness, which cannot comprehend or overpower it. And we can finally see and feel the truths of God. Jesus Christ not only brought us truth, but is God’s Truth. Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8:32), and “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Jesus three times called the Holy Spirit, whom He came to give us, “the Spirit of truth” (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13). The Spirit offers us calming clarity and affirming assurance in an anxious world.
Today there is far too little faithfulness, loyalty, or the knowledge of God in the land (Hosea 4:1). When have we ever had a greater need for the knowledge of God in our land? Not just knowing the biblical truths of how to live and love God and our neighbor, but of persons who have actually experienced God, learned firsthand the Who of God?
When God draws near in prayer, God will indeed set you free from falsehood and fear. Here is the deal: we live in an “as if” world, as if certain things are true which may not be. God brings the “as is” domain of heaven. Among the truths which God will communicate to you directly in prayer, without needing words, are these:
“I am real and with you always…
I made you and you are mine…
I know you as no other…
I love you as no other…
I am pleased with you…
I will never abandon or reject you…
I will take you to Myself, that we may be together forever…
Do not fear, for I am greater than the universe and your future is assured in Me.”
God can instantly implant these truths into your soul with a mere breath or tender touch of “the Spirit of truth.” Once you have encountered God’s inviolate truths, your singular task will be to trust in them, as in God.
