Perhaps the easiest form of prayer to get into is breathing prayer. Note that the word for “breath” in the Greek of the New Testament is also the word for “spirit.” This kind of prayer focuses on your breath and breathing. It is as simple as breathing in and out. You do not need to change your way of breathing, for then your attention might be attuned to the mechanics of breathing rather than the content of what you are breathing in and expelling out. This will become clear when you actually practice the breathing exercises I am about to describe.
